James "Jim" Katona, age 69 of Griffith, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Sue, sons: Jim (Stacy) Katona, Phil (Trudi) Katona, daughter: Lynn (Dale) Bettenhausen, grandchildren: AJ, Kendallyn Katona, James, Parker, Avery Katona and JR Bettenhausen.

Brothers: Les (Karen) Katona of FL, George (Sue) Katona of CA, Frank Katona of FL, Tom (Peggy) Katona of Highland.

Great friend and neighbor: Rob Cleveringa

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church 525 N. Broad St. Griffith, IN

with Father Theodore Mens celebrating.

Cremation will follow services.

Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, August 28 ^th from 2 – 8 PM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. 45 ^th Avenue, Griffith.

Jim has worked in the car business all his life, retiring in 2013 from Schepel Buick after 40 years.  He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Jim loved working in his yard keeping his grass, flowers and garden well-manicured. "CARUMBA".
