James J. Barlog "aka River Rat" age 62 of Griffith, passed away on Friday March 1, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Linda; daughters Amanda (Eric) Sarkady and Samantha (Josh) Roa; grandchildren Finnley, Nolan, Sullivan, and Aria; sister Jackie (Pat) Logue; brothers Roman (Lynn) Barlog Jr. and Mark (Margaret) Barlog; his father-in-law Ron Urban, and by his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Adeline Barlog, brother Greg Barlog, mother-in-law Elvira Urban, and by his sister-in-law Sherry Verville.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 6, 2019 at 5:30pm at White Funeral Home with Fr. Theodore Mens officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday March 6, 2019 from 2:30-5:30pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Ave. in Griffith, IN.

Jim was an employee at PolyJohn in Whiting for over 30 years. He loved fishing, hunting, mushroom picking, and spending time at his cottage in Winimac.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice of Calumet or Humane Indiana, both in Munster, Indiana.
