IMA M. KNIGHT (MATHIS) HIGHLAND, IN Ima M. (Mathis) Knight, age 83 of Highland, formerly of East Chicago and Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2012. She is survived by her loving children: Anita (Curt) Martinson of Orland Park, IL, Dolores (Craig) Pratt of Crown Point, and Danny (Pam) Knight of Munster; grandchildren: Rebecca Martinson, Steven Martinson, Laura (Todd) Maberry, Rachel Pratt, Sarah (Josh) Lowe, Leah (Jeris) Grandlienard, Mark Knight, and John Knight; great grandchildren: Isaac Lowe and Emmeline Grandlienard; brothers-in-law: Loran Knight of Highland, Julian Knight of Greenville, KY, and Eurie Jarvis of Hobart; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Hershel and Carrie Mathis;her husband of 59 years Cecil; sisters: Vara Whitehouse and Gladys Ward; brothers: Boyce Mathis and Jerry Mathis; and granddaughter, Emily Knight. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at White funeral Home , 921 W. 45th Ave., Griffith, IN. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday August 26, 2012 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ima worked as an aide at McKinley Elementary School and Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, IN. She was a member of Hessville Baptist Church and former member of Central Baptist Church in East Chicago. Ima loved to sew, quilt, and drive around with her husband in their 1930 Model A.
