George "Freddie" Strickland Jr. age 62 of Portage formerly of Munster, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013.

He is survived by his daughter, Kailani Elizabeth Strickland; father: George Strickland Sr.; brother: Randy (Danette) Strickland; Step-Brother Jim Pack; sister: Kathy Kalbac-Herman, Terri; grandson: Jamison; nephew: Bart; nieces: Jennifer and Sara; aunts: Aridith Minch, Shirley (Henry) Jaworski; step brother Jim Pack, step sister Terri and by his  special friend: Darlene Beard.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, in Highland IN, with Fr. Edward Mozur Celebrating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, in Schererville, IN.

Friends may meet with the family Friday, October 11 ^th , from 10:00am until time of service at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Freddie retired from Lever Brothers after 30 years of service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Loyola University Health System (LUHS) Heart Transplant Fund
