Obituary

Eva J. Johnson, age 93, of Mesa, Arizona (born in Gary, Indiana) passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024. She is survived by her three loving daughters: Janet (Steven) Norton, Theresa Johnson, and Jackie (Clem) Stewart; three grandchildren: Chad Kinley, Erik Norton, and Rachael Layne; seven great-grandchildren: Mason and Brooklyn Cooper, Jonathan, Austin, and Timothy Kinley, Memphis Norton, and Jett Layne; two great great grandchildren: Nash Norton and Selena Norton-Tapia; grandsons-in-law: Jeffrey Cooper and Timothy Layne; sister Irene Mikovetz; brother Leo Keen; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vern and Alma Keen; granddaughter Michelle Norton; brother Howard Keen; sisters: Ann Sarbon and Donna Baker.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th) Ave. Griffith, Indiana 46319. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at White Funeral Home.

Eva was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7881 in Hammond, Indiana. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and the Y-Knots Square Dancing Club.

She retired from Keyes Fibre of Hammond, Indiana after 33 years. She worked for TRMC in Louisa, Kentucky for 3 years in medical records. She was a member of Burnaugh Baptist Church in Catlettsburg, Kentucky and a prior member of The First Christian Church in Griffith, Indiana.

Eva was a faithful volunteer at her church, the Veterans Hospital, the VFW, and nursing homes. She could play the piano and accordion without sheet music. She loved traveling, puzzles, square dancing, reading, and especially her family!

She loved life and was loved by all. She will be deeply missed.
