Elwood Lee Coleman age 85 of Hammond, passed away on Saturday April 18, 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years Ellen; children Dawn (Bill) Nelson, R. Scott (Richelle) Coleman, P. Craig (Shirley) Coleman and Joe (Genevieve) Coleman; grandchildren Brittany, Lauren, Katelyn, Caleb, Madison, Joshua, Anthony, Michael, Sarah, Sophia, Eric, and Jessalyn; great grandchildren Zoee, Silas, Eli, and Ava; brothers Joseph Coleman and Charles Coleman.

Elwood was preceded in death by his daughter Janice Marie, parents Raymond and Mary Coleman, and by his brothers Jr, Robert, James, and Carl.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 21, 2015 at 7:00pm at First Baptist Church Griffith located at 324 N. Colfax in Griffith with Pastor Scott Hobbs officiating. Burial will be Private.

Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday April 21 ^st from 4-7:00pm at First Baptist Church in Griffith.

Elwood was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Griffith. He also taught the Men's Bible class and the Junior High Bible class. Elwood was a member of Laborers Union Local # 76 retiring in 1992. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran serving as Chaplain on the USS John R. Craig and also as a Gunner's Mate III.

Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church in Griffith Building Fund.
