ELEANOR FLORENCE (MATTINGLY) HOCHSTETLER FISHERS, IN Eleanor Florence (Mattingly) Hochstetler, age 81, of Fishers, formerly of Griffith, IN, departed this earthly world into her eternal life in the hands of God on Tuesday October 13, 2015 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her four children: Guy (Atsuko), Julie Blanchard, Chuck (Lisa), and John (Helen); grandchildren: Jacob, Nathan, Katie, and Tommy; brothers: Joseph (Gail) Mattingly, Arthur (Bernice) Mattingly, and John (Linda) Mattingly; sister, Irene (George) Jewell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents, Wendell and Muriel Mattingly; and her siblings: Jim Mattingly, Betty Popovich, Dolly Mitchell, Wanda Jean Mattingly, Pat Sanders, Bucky Mattingly and Donna Warren preceded her in death. Born in Kentucky, Eleanor grew up in a lively and loving family among eleven energetic siblings in Griffith. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and decorating. She forever searched for enticing comfort food recipes, the best of which she shared with her family and friends. She cherished her rose bushes, lovingly coaxing them into fabulous fragrant blooms. Eleanor was also the consummate organizer both at work where her attorneys valued her secretarial skills, and at home where her family was guided towards their daily duties via the numerous notes awaiting them after school. In her later years she realized her dream trip to see the English countryside claiming the thatched roof cottages and gardens were just as she imagined them from reading the many England-set novels she favored. Even in retirement she treasured her independence, living in a sunny apartment with a patio where she could attract and watch birds while she worked her crossword puzzles, monitored our lives via Facebook, and prayed daily for all of our continued health and happiness.
