DAVID L. DAVIS "BIG DAVE" HIGHLAND, IN David L. "Big Dave" Davis age 64, of Highland passed away on Saturday May 14, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Betsy; children: Scott E. Davis of Hammond and Julie A. Davis of Hammond; stepson, James (Chrissy) Desler of Griffith; stepdaughter: Joan (Jared) Tyler of Anderson, IN; grandchildren: Lily, Zoe, Julian, and Jacob. Preceded in death by his parents: John and Fern Davis. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 204 W. Pine Street, Griffith, IN with Rev. Shawn Cornett officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at the First Christian Church in Griffith. Dave was a devoted Christian and Elder at the First Christian Church in Griffith. He was retired from American Steel Foundry in East Chicago, IN and was an avid WWII buff. Dave loved classic cars and war planes, and really loved spending time with his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Christian Church.
