Carmen Cueva age 90 of Griffith formerly of East Chicago passed away on Wednesday January 25, 2017.

She is survived by her daughters: Carmen Martinez and Laura (Miguel) Valtierra, son  Jaime (Martha) Martinez, three grandchildren Cristina, Amanda, and Miguel Valtierra. Beloved nephew Benito (Deb) Vasquez and nieces Eva (Paul)Allison and Irene (Donald) Mauch.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents Julian and Elisa Cueva, sisters  Candelaria Vasquez,  Amalia Cueva  and by her brother Jose Maria Cueva, niece Elisa Vasquez and nephew Juan Vasquez.

Funeral services will be held on Monday January 30, 2017 at 10:00 am directly at St. Mary Catholic Church located at 525 N. Broad Street Griffith with Father Theodore Mens celebrating.

Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Schererville.

Friends may meet with the family on Sunday January 29, 2017 from 4-8:00 pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Avenue in Griffith. An evening prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm on Sunday.  Additional visitation will be held on Monday morning at St. Mary Catholic Church from 9:15 -10:00 am.

Carmen retired from Inland Steel in 1991 with 22 years of service.  Her specialty was making  tacos and she would always  offer to make them for you. Carmen was a loving mother and grandmother who will be truly missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
