Betta Jean Bruggink White, 94, of Dyer, Indiana peacefully passed in her home on December 9, 2012.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Eldridge, her son, James White (Linda White), her five grandchildren, Matthew Eldridge, Holly Horan (Tim Horan), Rebecca Johnson (Kevin Johnson), Esther White (Alex Khan), Ariel Szabo, her four great grandchildren, Jordan and Kaela Horan, and Noah and Evan Eldridge, her sister Patti Pelke (Herbert Pelke), her sister-and-law Fran White, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lulo and Garret Bruggink, her son-in-law William Eldridge, and her loving husband, Victor White, whom she spent fifty-seven years of marriage with before his passing in 1995.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 13, 2012 at 11:00am directly at First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Linda Skaggs officiating. Burial will be privately held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may meet with the family on Thursday December 13th from 10:30am until time of service at First Presbyterian Church, located at 6021 Hohman Ave, in Hammond IN.
She was a graduate of Hammond High and attended Moody Bible Institute. She worked alongside her husband for many years in the family business, White Insurance Agency, he established in Hammond, Indiana in 1936.
She was a devout member of First Presbyterian Church in Hammond, Indiana and a generous and compassionate supporter of Hospice. She was honored in 2003 for her ongoing involvement with Hospice.
When not helping an organization that touched her heart, she was directly helping and touching the hearts of others. She took those in need under her wing and was a dear and true friend to all. She always had a positive outlook, an easy smile, and a warm heart. She was an avid traveler and a cherished member of the community.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Moody Bible Institute.
