Barbara L. Kregel, age 78, of Griffith, passed away on Monday September 23, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 59 1/2 years, Gene; daughters: Diane (Late Tom) Ranta of Crown Point, Donna Kregel of Phoenix, AZ, Sharon (Todd) Eriks of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Joanne (Mark) Joyce of Griffith, IN; grandchildren: Amy (Matt) Skura, Jennifer (Nick) Spitz, Jeremy Eriks, Becky (David) Shreve, Greg, and Sara Joyce; great grandchildren: Abby, Avery, Dylan, Logan, Kalle, Haley, Makayla, Tyler, Dawson, Allyson, and Trinity; sisters: Martina Adams, Patricia Keilman, Bettie Moore, Gail (Pat) Spain, and Karen (Dave) Noble; brother, Robert" Ed" (Judy) Ross; and brother- in-law, Charles "Chip" (Nancy) Kregel. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Juanita Ross; and brothers: Duwart and Bruce. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Griffith Lutheran Church, 1000 N. Broad St., Griffith, IN with Pastor Andrew Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday September 24, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home , 921 W. 45th Avenue, Griffith, IN. Barbara was a member of Griffith Lutheran Church where she was the former church secretary and treasurer. She retired from Griffith Police Department where she worked as a Dispatcher. She was the former President of the Scherwood Woman's Par 3 Golf League. Memorials may be given to Griffith Lutheran Church or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
