ARTHUR ALLEN VAN CUREN, SR. GARY, IN Arthur "Art" Allen VanCuren Sr., age 73 of Gary passed away Monday, June 3, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Mary G. Belcher VanCuren of 34 years; sons: Arthur "Champ" Allen VanCuren Jr., Gerald (Jodi) VanCuren, Paul Allen VanCuren, James "Jimmy" R. (Cyndi) Harbin, and John Wayne VanCuren; daughters: Tina L. (Christopher) Garver, Lisa (JR) Roark, and Kathleen A. Harbin; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers: George Emery and Howard VanCuren; sisters: Margaret Krizmanic, Marilyn Turpin, and Carol Wright. Preceded in death by parents: George and Bernice (nee Hansen) VanCuren; brother, Dale Hurbert VanCuren; and sister June Malufka. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at Family Christian Center at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Utley officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends may meet with the family on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Family Christian Center located at 345 W. 45th Ave., Munster, IN. Art was a member of Family Christian Center since 1988. He served in the Navy and was retired from U.S. Steel. Art loved donating his time to Operation Care for the past 24 years.
