Arnold Leon Stassin age 85 of Griffith, Indiana passed away on February 13, 2012. Born in Bicknell, Indiana December 2, 1926 to Arnold T. Stassin and Priscilla (Watteau) Stassin. Married 58 years-4 months to Donna Stassin (Fox), deceased. A resident of Griffith for over 60 years, a Graduate of Griffith High School, and was an active member of Griffith United Methodist Church for many years serving on numerous commissions. Arnold served 3 years in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Monterrey Cul 26 in the Pacific Theater of War, one of the first ships to enter Tokyo Bay after the war was over. A member of the Griffith Masonic Lodge #735 and Griffith Order of the Eastern Star #583 where he served as a Worthy Patron and was active for many years. He was past guardian of Bethel #96 International Order of Jobs Daughters. He served as Assistant Chief in the Griffith Civil Defense and helped build the Griffith Little League baseball field where he later umpired. Arnold was a former charter member of the V.F. W. and one of the original officers and he was a past member of the American Legion where he established a Boys Club and erected boxing rings for the youth, getting Tony Zale to show the youth the art of boxing. He was chairman of the East Chicago Apprentice Council and he worked at Blaw Knox for twenty years, later managing the Industrial Machine Corporation. He helped established Midwest Machining and Fabricating. After retiring for several years he went back to work at Euclid Machine and Tool. Arnold was a member of the Griffith Swinging Seniors and he was Director of the Griffith Senior Center. He enjoyed playing baseball, golf bowling, and fishing. His wife, daughter, granddaughters and son –in-law were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his son-in-law Chris Profilovich of La Porte, granddaughters Carrie (Marcus) Painter of West Lafayette and Corie (Kyle) Adams of Indianapolis, Great Granddaughter: Nola Painter,

Brothers: Robert (Barbara) Stassin of Hammond, Larry (Ann) Stassin of Highland, sister Shirley Jones of Florida, Fiancé: Dorothy LittleJohn, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by, wife Donna Joanne, daughter Carol Ann, and by his parents Arnold Sr. and Priscilla.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 16th, 2012 at 7:00pm at White Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Puent officiating. Cremation will follow services.

Friends may meet with family on Thursday, February 16 ^th from 3:00pm until the time of services at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45 ^th Ave. inn Griffith.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Griffith Senior Center or to Hospice of the Calumet.
