Anthony "Nino" Bruno,Sr. age 74 of Griffith, passed away on November 13, 2014.

He is the loving father of Tony Bruno Jr. and Natalie (Karl) Foss as well as the devoted grandfather of Jordan Bruno and Blair Bruno whom he absolutely worshipped.

Tony was the wonderful brother to Yolanda (Bill) Martin, Margaret (Eli) Zak, Antoinette LaBarge, Ann Pazik, and Jim (Nancy) Bruno, sisters-in-law Betty Jo Harrold and Suzie Simmons, as well as former father in law to Stacy Karney whom he simply adored. Godchildren: Arlene Paganelli and Kelly Ellrich. Countless nieces, nephews, and friends make up Tony's group of loved ones, far too many to include in a single list. Tony loved you all dearly and gives great thanks to all who helped him thru difficult times, gave him strength, and helped brighten his days.

Tony also has special thanks and the deepest of gratitude to Maria, his caregiver.  Over the years, Tony and Maria developed a bond so strong that only the two of them will ever know its true strength.

Tony joins in heaven Judy, his beloved wife of 48 years, brothers Dominic (Delores) Bruno and Albert Bruno, sister Francis (Mike) Chovostal,brothers-in- law Max Pazik, Roy LaBarge and the forbearers of the entire Bruno Family, his parents, Anthony and Margaret Bruno.

Tony was born on November 12, 1940 in East Chicago, Indiana.  After serving in the United States Army, Tony returned home in 1960 and took employment with Inland Steel, the company which he dedicated 35 years of his life to before retiring.  After marrying Judy in 1964, Tony raised a wonderful family to which his commitment was unparalleled and he never missed a sporting event that his children played in, you could always find him in the stands, cheering them on.  Tony was the ultimate mechanic and could fix just about anything with little more than a hair brush and ball point pen.  He was the original McGyver.  Tony loved to fish, and his monthly poker games with the guys.  Some of the family's fondest memories came during their annual trips to Ludington, Michigan and Gadsden, Alabama.    His grandchildren, Jordan and Blair were his heart and soul.  Nothing gave him more pleasure than watching his grandkids grow, play sports, and turn into wonderful young adults. He loved them dearly.  Through many years of service at Inland Steel, Tony developed countless friendships, some which literally lasted a lifetime.  To everyone who was ever a part of Tony's life, he is grateful for your friendship, love, and support.  Tony was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Griffith, and thru the years has developed a friend in Father Mens, he was a former Griffith Little League baseball coach for the Cardinals.    Tony's passion for life, and his unwavering strength thru difficult times made him a hero to any and all who knew him…The world has lost a great man…

Funeral services will held on Monday, November 17 ^th at 10:15am at White Funeral Home with the Funeral Mass following at 11:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church, located at 525 N. Broad St. Griffith, IN with Father Theodore Mens celebrating.

Cremation will follow the services.

Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, November 16 ^th from 2-8:00PM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. 45 ^th Avenue in Griffith, IN.
