Ann J. Smith, of Griffith, passed away on Monday July 20th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Ann is survived by her beloved son, Danny; her mother, Bernadette Sanner; Siblings; Ed (Paula Abbott) Sanner, Robert (Davian) Sanner Jr.; Carol (Dave) Long; her aunt, Andrea Kapera; her godfather, Ray Kapera; her godson, Jesse Sanner; and her former husband, Daniel Smith, who remained her devoted friend throughout the years, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Sanner Sr., her daughter, Andrea, and god mother Bonnie Dobosz.

Ann enjoyed shopping, and sci-fi movies. She lived life on her own terms, and those who knew her will always remember her independent spirit. As her family simply and perfectly put it, "She did it her way."

Family and friends are invited to gather at White Funeral Home (921 W. Glen Park Ave. Griffith, IN 46319) for a celebration of Ann's life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
