ALFREDO M. MARTINEZ HAMMOND, IN FORMERLY EAST CHICAGO Alfredo M. Martinez, age 80 of Hammond, formerly of East Chicago, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Esther; children: Benjamin (Irma) Sandoval, Pedro Sandoval, Alfredo (Helena) Martinez Jr., Patricia Martinez- Silvas, Ruth Martinez, Luis (Geri) Martinez, Norma Martinez and Edgar (Alicia) Martinez; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Jose' Verastegui and Abel Martinez; grandson, Angel Silvas; two brothers; and by his sister. Funeral services will be private. Cremation will follow services. Friends may meet with the family on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Ave. in Griffith.
