Lois E. (Govert) Colby

Lois E. Colby nee Govert age 87 of Griffith, passed away on Saturday May 5, 2018.

She is survived by her children Dan Colby, late Jeff (Sue) Colby, Janice (Jeff) Konopasek, Patrick (Cheryl) Colby, Renee (David) Frets and Jim (Sharon) Colby; grandchildren Kevin Colby, Jenna (Chris) Pollock, Adam Colby, Corey (Lori) Konopasek, Clint (Vesna) Konopasek, David (Melissa) Colby, Casey (fiancée Abby Harness) Colby, Zachary Colby, Hannah Colby, William (Amy)  Frets, Jeramie (fiancée Rheanna Boender) Colby; great grandchildren  Nico, Ben, and Lenora Pollock, Levi and Quinlan Colby, Wyatt, Cole, and Luka Konopasek, Archer and Charlotte Colby and Hailey Colby .

Lois is also survived by her sisters Dolores McVey and Janet Gregor; sisters-in-law Ann Govert, and Betty Vogt; and by her brothers-in-law Butch (Joan) Colby, and Roger (Becky) Colby

She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Sylvia Govert, husband Merle, son Jeff, and brothers Lawrence, Ed and Leo Govert.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 12th at 10:00 a.m.at St. Mary Catholic Church located at 525 N. Broad St. in Griffith with Father Theodore Mens and Deacon John Bacon celebrating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.

Friends may meet with the family on Friday May 11th from 3:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Avenue Griffith, Indiana.

Lois’s life was centered around the town in which she was born. She graduated from St. Mary Parochial School (where she remained a lifelong member) and Griffith High School, class of 1948. She married her high school sweetheart, Merle and raised their 6 children in Griffith, as well. She was retired from the Town of Griffith Clerk Treasurer’s office. Lois took pride in her hometown and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who met her walking the bike trail on the south side.
