John T."Jack" Lewandowski-Of Munster
Jack Lewandowski,age 65, passed away Wednesday March 21,2018. Jack was born on February 19,1953 in Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents:Frank W. Lewandowski and Agatha (Gratkowski) Lewandowski. He is survived by his brothers James (Donna) Lewandowski and Jeff (Kathy)Lewandowski; many nieces, nephews,and special friends Sonja Ross,Annie Brooks and Sue Christenson.
Jack earned his Masters Degree in Social work from George Williams College. He began his career in Dallas, Texas and spent more than 30 years as a school social worker for Dolton School District #148. Jack devoted his life to helping others in numerous ways. He worked with the boy scouts,assisted with causes helping battered women and with a variety of causes in support of children. While at Unity of NWI he created a Spiritual Social Action Team which assisted in community outreach for food drives, animal rescue groups and especially helped the children in the Carmelite Home. Jack was also a prayer chaplain and served as co-team leader of the group for several years. He was also studying to become a Licensed Unity Teacher and had almost completed the program when he became ill. His spiritual life was of utmost importance to him and was instilled in him since childhood.
Throughout Jacks lengthy illness, many angels supported and assisted in his journey. We are thankful for the loving support of friends at Unity of Northwest Indiana,Michelle Anderson (First Financial Bank), Marti Rivas-Ramos and Jessica Rios (First Midwest Bank), Attorney William Enslen, the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living in Portage, the staff at Towne Centre Memory Care, Unity Hospice, and Amanda Mielcarek and Christy Flanagan for their compassionate and tender care of Jack. We are deeply grateful to all who walked this walk with us.
Jack's visitation will be this Sunday March 25th from 2-6 PM at White Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow immediately at 6PM, also at White Funeral Home, 921 W.45th ave Griffith, Indiana.
