Betty (Murray) Molnar, 88, of Highland, passed away on April 21 surrounded by family at
the Highland home she shared with her beloved husband for more than 60 years.
Visitation will take place on April 25 from 4-8 p.m. at the White Funeral Home of Griffith
(921 W. 45th Ave. in Griffith), and funeral services will follow at the same location on
April 26 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Betty’s name to the
Ronald McDonald House to honor the memory of her beloved great granddaughter
Emma Drew Wozniewski.
A 1947 graduate of Hammond High School, Betty proudly served her community as a
Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and District Director of Garden Clubs for
Northern Indiana. Gardening was indeed among her enduring passions joining a love of
cooking, fishing, crocheting for friends and family, solving puzzles for her own
amusement and watching (and re-watching) classic John Wayne films to strengthen her
devotion to “The Duke.”
She is survived by a family she adored, including husband and lifelong love Robert
Molnar, daughters Catherine Molnar-Boncela (Ed Boncela), Sue Wozniewski (Mark
Wozniewski) and Betsy Lydick (Jeff Lydick); grandchildren Matthew Wozniewski,
Christina Boncela-March (Ryan March), Andrew Wozniewski (Ashley Wozniewski),
Eddie Boncela and Alex Lydick, and great granddaughter Lorelai March
