Catchur, parents John and Anne Micoley, sister Christine Szewka, brother-in-law Edmund “Red” Szewka, and brother-in-law John White. A strong mother who held her family together through many difficult times, Genevieve was guided throughout her life by her deep religious convictions.

A woman of many talents, Genevieve was renowned for her skill with needle and thread, sewing clothes for herself and her children. Over the years, she won many ribbons for her sewing and embroidery work at the Lake County Fair. Genevieve was exceptionally skilled at fine needlework, starting as a young girl with cross-stitch and working her way into more intricate specialty embroidery.
Genevieve is survived by daughter Susan Catchur-Johnson (Bob), Valparaiso, son Michael J. Catchur, Griffith, daughter Laura Browne (Michael), Bolingbrook, IL, daughter Lisa Jarzombek (David), Schererville, and sisters Phyllis Matuska, Salem, Oregon, and Evelyn V. White, Whiting.
Genevieve’s greatest joy was becoming a grandmother at 65. She dearly loved being Nana to her two grandchildren, Benjamin Jarzombek, Indianapolis, and Grace Jarzombek Crown Point. She always said, “Holding them was like holding gold.”
