Verlon Jr. Fowler, age 75 years, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October
30, 2017, at Community Hospital, Munster, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born on Saturday, February 14th, (Valentines Day) 1942. In Etowah County Attalla, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Mae Fowler; brothers Dearbus
Fowler and Bobby Lee Fowler; sisters Dorothy Mae Fowler and Betty Faye Fowler-Sherrell;
Fathers-in-law Rufus Ferrell and Richard Wigsmoen, mother-in-law Estella Ferrell Wigsmoen; Brothers-in-law James and Rufus Ferrell; Sister-in-law Betty Lou Ferrell; niece Kimberly Sue Ferrell and great-great niece Jade Lanay Bell. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Barbara Sue Fowler; son Kenneth
Verlon Fowler and furry pet, Cindy Part 2; Brothers Billy Wayne (Barbara) Fowler, and
Marlin (late Laura) Fowler; Sisters Ann (late Eddy) Bell, Gail (Glen) Garner and Shelby
(late Jerry) Nelson; Sisters-in-law Pauline (late Dearbus) Fowler, Joan (late Bobby)
Fowler, Kathleen (late James) Ferrell; Brothers-in-law Gary (Kathy) Ferrell and Jeffrey
(Janice) Ferrell; Sisters-in-law Joan Horvath and Jane Ferrell; 29 nieces and nephews, 53
great nieces and nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews; cousins and many
dear friends. Verlon was a handsome, kind, compassionate caring man who loved his family more
than anything on this earth. He was a wonderful, devoted son, husband, father, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin,and friend, who before he left us, said, "I love everybody."
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 2:00 PM at White
Funeral Home, 921-45th Avenue, Griffith, Indiana, with Elder Larry Westmoreland, Church of Jesus Christ Gary, Indiana officiating.Visitation with family from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM.
Per his wishes his cremains will be laid to rest at Rainbow Memorial Gardens in Gadsden, Alabama, after a Memorial Service at Noble Hill Church in Attalla, Alabama, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.
