Russell A. Shaffer age 79 of Griffith passed away on Saturday Sept. 11, 2010

                           Steven and Melissa Pollock-Arndt , Tyler Arndt

Daughter: Lori (Tom) Huynh-Porter of Crown Point

Grandchildren: Kristin Huynh (Sal) Aguinaga, Isabella 

                         Justin Huynh (Julia) Smith, Liam

                         Ben, Joel, Chloe, Morgan Porter

Son: Allen Shaffer of Griffith

  Grandchildren: Sarah Shaffer and Allen Shaffer Jr.

Brother: Roy Edward of TN

Sister: Phyllis Shaffer of Valparaiso

Sister-in-laws: Beverly Snyder of Crown Point

Lifelong friends Joan and Jack Kekelik

Preceded in death by his parents Allen and Louise Shaffer, wife Dolores, brother Robert and by his infant sister.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday September 15, 2010 at 10:00 am at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45^th Ave. in Griffith

With Pastor Dan Kuiper officiating

Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville

Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday September 14^th from  3:00pm-8:00p

Russell was retired from the Union Carbide after 38 years.

He was a member of Griffith VFW, and was an Army Veteran (Korean War)

Former  owner of race cars and a avid Illiana Speedway Race fan.

Russell was also an avid Genealogist and he enjoyed walking, watching his grandchildren play sports and activities.

A very hard working man, loving husband, Father, Grandfather & great grandfather and who will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to William J. Riley Hospice Residence
